Day 4 - Rowardennan to Inversnaid (7 miles)

We actually did this day in reverse as the boat timings meant we really had to take the 10am morning boat from Tarbet to Inversnaid and then walk back to Rowardennan and take the late afternoon boat back from there to Tarbet. So the photos here are starting on the boat as it arrives at Inversnaid then shows the route to Rowardennan.
Loch Sloy power station (opened in 1950) on Ben Vorlich (943m) one of the Arrochar Alps

Arriving at Inversnaid and the Inversnaid Hotel

Inside Inversnaid Hotel - a typical Highland hotel - it looked very nice. Apparently it is more for coach parties and maybe only has a few rooms left over for eg walkers so probably not used so much by WHW walkers ? There is Inversnaid Bunkhouse nearby that may be better to stay at.

Massive waterfall next to Inversnaid Hotel

We crossed the Great Trossachs Path which goes from Inversnaid eastwards towards Loch Katrine etc in the Trossachs. This is the third pathway we have crossed. We already crossed the John Muir Way between Drymen and Milngavie, and we saw the Rob Roy Way as it left Drymen going north towards Pitlochry.
Who is that hiding under the sign ?
The two Walks intersect - West Highland Way is the thistle sign and the Great Trossachs Path

A lovely selection of goodies and an honesty box to pay for them - fresh water with lemons in it and tablet (we tried this !), granola cookies and apples. Very nice.

The tablet !

There were many lovely spots for wild camping on this stretch, where it is allowed. Here you have a lovely stream, a flat area and a beach and views of the Loch.

A lovely place to stop for a while

A lovely cottage - along from Ben Lomond bunkhouse - I think they probably did B+B but I couldnt quite see the sign.

This looked a great place to stay - an open fire - hard to say whether this or the Rowardennan youth hostel would be best - both would be great I suspect. Close to the youth hostel.

We made it to Rowardennan and had a pub meal at the Rowardennan Hotel. Look who took the chance for a well earned nap !

The return boat was leaving from the slipway at the Youth Hostel which is seen here.

Well stocked Youth Hostel shop:

House martin (or swallow?) nests at the youth hostel - they were flying all around !

We got a complementary drink on the boat included in our tickets which was nice !

Back at Tarbet they were parking the boats up for the night.
