Day 6 : Ardleish to Crianlarich (8 miles)

We started the day in Crianlarich and took the train south to Ardlui. We then got the small boat across the loch from Ardlui Marina to Ardleish. From there its an 8 mile walk back north to Crianlarich via Beinglas campsite (Inverarnan) and Falls of Falloch. Actually a more pleasant walk that I expected as it took you well away from the road and railway. The Falloch Glen area was nice as was the section from Loch Lomond to Beinglas. Perhaps only the last section to Crianlarich was a bit muddy and less interesting but that was not a large part of the walk.

If you want to summon the boat from this side then you need to raise this red ball !

The top of Loch Lomond:

Beinglas campsite - a welcome stop. Nice campsite with wooden pods and accommodation to hire as well or camping areas. Bar/Restaurant and small shop with food and camping supplies including what we needed - a waterproof poncho for the rain !

Some sort of weir ....

EU funding for the woodland

The Falls of Falloch - go on and on - lots of waterfalls ....

Goat alert ! Wild mountain goat !
And two more wild mountain goats !

Some sort of Hydro Electric power station we think:

Nice stretches along the river including some nice camping spots - a couple of guys with a tent had a lovely wood fire going !

A welcome stop and a well timed Honesty box!

Tika did get some crisps !

Interestingly constructed home made insulated and well supplied Honesty box

We stopped off on the road home (in the car) to get a proper look at Falls of Falloch - the main one - as you could not see this one from the West Highland Way except perhaps some sort of distant glimpse. Its very impressive - and was in full flow so a loud noise. There was a quotation from Dorothy Wordsworth on the metal viewing area.

Tika did not like the cattle grid style metal... she took it slowly and was OK.

I once swam in the Falls of Falloch after doing one of the Munros nearby.
